Friends of Music Alley

The Friends of Music Alley 501(c)(3) is a non-profit organization that raises funds for the purpose of making high-quality live music events and the arts accessible to the Bridgewater, Massachusetts and surrounding communities.

The Friends of Music Alley (FoMA) prioritizes supporting original musicians from the region in an effort to help bolster the local artist community. FoMA strives to compensate performers fairly for their art. We take great pride in introducing our patrons to performers that they have not yet gotten to know. We love it when Music Alley fans fall in love with the music that they experience at our shows and start following these amazing artists.

There is so much talent and amazing music that resides right here in our region. We know that once people have gotten the opportunity to experience these performers at one of our intimate free performances, that they will looking for more opportunities to enjoy their music again.

FoMA makes these high-quality live music experiences accessible in a couple different ways. Our flagship Thursday evening Summer Concert Series that is hosted at Black Hat Brew Works brings musicians into Bridgewater for amazing performances during the summer months. FoMA also sponsors our Music Alley Open Mic Night in our beautiful Central Square alley venue twice per month on Tuesday evenings June through August. We have also begun hosting our annual talent evaluation fundraising event, The Opening Act event each spring. Learn more about these events below.

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

The Friends of Music Alley hosts their annual Summer Concert Series each Thursday evening between late June and the end of August. All shows are FREE and open to the public. All ages are welcome to come enjoy the concerts.

These shows are hosted at Black Hat Brew Works (25 Scotland Blvd., Bridgewater, MA 02324) rain or shine. Doors open at 5:00 pm and the opening act begins at 5:30 pm, with the featured act then performing 6:30 - 8:00 pm. The show moves into Black Hat’s spacious taproom in the case of rain. Various food trucks and vendors are often on site.

MUsic Alley Open Mic

The Friends of Music Alley 501(c)(3) has partnered with Kim Hill’s Mix N’ Music to host Open Mic events in the Music Alley venue located at 50 Central Square, Bridgewater, MA. These Open Mic events are free and open to anyone that would like to perform or come enjoy the music.

Open Mic events occur the first and third Tuesday each Month starting in June and running through early September. Please follow Music Alley’s social media for updates on Open Mic date specifics.

THE OPENING ACT

The Opening Act is a talent evaluation event hosted by the Friends of Music Alley 501(c)(3). The event was created as an opportunity to give local musicians the opportunity to perform in front of FoMA board members for consideration for the 2026 summer concert series.

The event drew musicians from all over Southeastern, Massachusetts. Performers were able to play on a stage with full sound production in front of judges, supportive fans, and a community of fellow musicians.

Winners earned compensated opening or feature bookings in the 2026 Music Alley summer concert series. All performers were able to network and be seen by judges with professional experience in radio, talent buying, and music.

The 2027 Opening Act event will take place in March 2027. More information will be forthcoming.
